solemnisation

Booked!

During the dah basi mega wedding exhibition in January, we were finally able to cross out most of the major categories from our checklist. I have to be honest, none of these chosen vendors are in my top lists. But because my parents were there with us and because the guy who was partly in charge of the booth(there were 4 vendors there) was my mum’s ex student, we had a REALLY good deal so that was an immediate green light for us. We’re all about saving money!

So what we’ve secured for our big day:

1. Decor

I’ve always had a clear idea of what I wanted for my dais and I already had a vendor in mind that could give me just that. But on the day of the exhibition, we decided to secure for a company that was more… experienced. The vendor I had my eyes on is pretty new and though I still think they’re reliable, the deal that was given to me that day was hard for me to say ‘No thanks!’. So signed sealed delivered, the chosen decor for my side is ISS Wedding Designs!  *Applause* Spoke to the boss himself and one of his entourage about what I wanted. And because ibunda wanted the nikah to be held at home, everything we paid for includes a mini pelamin and bilik pengantin too! And they charged me the minimum price I’ve seen a wedding decor charge for chiavari chairs.. 😀 happy girl I am. Would love to tell you the price that was quoted to me but boss told me to kept it a secret hahahaha

These are some of the works they’ve done recently.

Mummy LOVES the first dais. She thinks it’s sooooo pretty. I do too! Though I prefer something clean cut, more like what Chenta Weddings does. I’m sure if I voice my opinions to Iss, he would try to make my ‘dream’ become a reality… maybe? 😛

HOW PRETTY IS THIS?! I never planned to even hire someone to do my room. I wanted to just wing it and DIY. I know Bonito by Bob does amazing bilik decors too but even so, I would’ve save that money for our honeymoon instead. But because this was part of the so-called ‘package’, now I have a burden off my back. 😛

2. Andaman

Of course, my first choice was already fully booked. Asal krg semua kanchiong eh book everything 2 years before?! And we wanted to go with our 2nd choice; went to speak with their makeup artist at the exhibition but NO CONNECTION LA BABE. I couldn’t connect well with her because dia awkward then I lagi awkward alamak how like this the day of the wedding. So me and fiance were already double doubting about them when mum told us about this new vendor.

Again, wasn’t in my list either. They were in the same booth as ISs and they were the reason of why I decided to book the rest. I don’t even think they have a company name. These duo consists of the famous Singapore designer, Azni Samdin and makeup artist, Effa Yashin. From what I was told, both of them worked with TCS/Mediacorp before. Nanti when I kahwin boleh berangan celebrity mcm *insert Suria celebrities names here*. In fact, Azni was part of the design team in the recent Akademi Fantasia. He was also under Najib Ali for awhile. I mean, there’s nothing else I can say la kan.

So what the package consists of:

1. 3 custom made wedding outfits for BOTH bride and groom

2. Makeup and Styling (I was asking Effa about this; nikah makeup is included, so is the main event. You’ll also have 3 hair changes for your 3 outfits)

3. Fresh hand bouquet and Sireh Lat Lat

And all of this for the price of……………….. $2400!!!!! Custom made outfits for that price??!?! Tak tau where else you’ll get. And the designer himself does not believe in over embellishing his outfits. Especially songket. A piece of fabric already so exclusive, why ruin it with sequins. Which I have to agree… Like the famous Syomir Izwa piece, there wasn’t much embellishments and it still looked drop dead gorgeous. Azni doesn’t have much of his work online (dia tak nak show off :P) but we caught a glimpse, literally, of them and all I can say is that I’m goddamn impressed. Let’s hope our outfits turns out as nice!

I don’t have to say much because those pictures says it all. Effa’s work is top notch.

3. Photography & Videography

The owner of Pictureism TCS is Effa’s husband and he is also mum’s ex student. I’ve known him too since I was 7? So same thing happened, great deal and the package consists of a free post-wedding photoshoot and family portrait, so it was an ‘ok go’ situation again. Didn’t get to see his videos though because Af was in a rush to head to work and they don’t have any of their work online, but I trust that his team will do an amazing job. All this budak-budak mat yoyo, I’m sure they have standards la kan. 😛

So alhamdulillah, those are secured for now. Fiance’s side has nothing booked yet. They have a chosen caterer and kompang in mind but both pun still haven’t enquire. Sigh

OH and we recently found out, kalau ikut zaman dulu, girls side will handle andaman, photography and videography while the guys’ will take care of the kompang and the bridal car. Who knew… But zaman sekarang all go dutch. All divide by 2. But we decided to do it the traditional way. It’s a good thing too because you ringankan beban your future husband. Especially now with the duit hantaran yg melampau jumlahnya.

Ok la, that’s it for now. Panjang pe ni post. Till the next one! xoxo

Deciding on The Date

Definitely one of the hardest decisions for us was choosing The Date. We could never decide on one and when we do pick a date, it still wouldn’t sound right. And most of the time when I say ‘We’, I meant ‘ME’. :p

Because we got together on 18 July 09, we initially wanted 18 July 15 to be our solemnisation day. But unfortunately for us, itulah first day of Syawal. So that was definitely out of the question. After going back and forth on what other date to pick, we decided to push it forward to 2016 just because the date lawa. 16 Jan 16 was our chosen date for awhile.. but of course, we didn’t feel like it was for us. Tak guna kalau date lawa if we don’t feel like it was right.

Two or three weeks before our engagement, Mr and I discussed this issue again. Time ni dah penat la beat around the bush and around again when org lain semua dah start book vendors for 2016(!!!!!). So we decided to give each other some suggestions.

That’s when he said, ‘18.09.15? 18 is the date we wanted and 09 is the year we got together. It’s about 3 weeks after your birthday, when previously 18 July was almost 3 weeks before mine’. I remember running to my parents’ room announcing, ‘MUMMY I’VE FOUND THE DATE!’. In which she replied, ‘GATAL.’ Thanks la mummy haha. Of course the problem now was that it was on a Friday. We originally wanted it to be on a Saturday(Sat morn – nikah, Sat afternoon – my side’s event, Sun afternoon – his side’s event) but because I was dead set on the 18th, we were willing to compromise and have both our events on the same day; 19th Sept 2015. It’s gonna be rushing, but if our parents’ gen can do it, I’m pretty sure we will survive.

So finally, we chose a date. 18th Sept 2015 will be Majlis Ijab & Qabul kita, Insya’allah.
